Can I apply for a residence permit as a short-term student?
You must have an immigration permit of this category before coming to the UK (entry permit). Canapply for an entry permitfrom any country outside the UK, but you must be legal resident of the country you are applying from.

If the course lasts up to six months, you cannot use this method and instead have to prove that you are entitled to study as a guest.
